Mary Jeanne Bialas, Victorian Whispers
Mary Jeanne Bialas has traveled throughout the northeast leading adults and children through a time travel adventure into the 19th century. Educational programs are audience interactive - bringing participants into the Victorian world of fashion, politics, social and value structure, entertainment and schooling. Participants become living history actors... a scullery maid, a serving maid, a child of an industrialist, the wife of a wealthy factory owner, the father of a wealthy family, a Victorian banker, a student in a 1800's schoolhouse, a visitor to Scrooge's house at Christmas, and more. Hands on activities and Victorian crafts may be incorporated into particular programs as well.
Traveling historic exhibits connect closely to particular programs and include antique under and outer garments, books, games, and more.
Mary Jeanne has created programs which fit nicely in multi-time slots - hour long programs as well as half day and multi-day artist residences. Her living history characters and love for Victorian history, literature and antique clothing has led to the creation of several programs which can be presented "as is" or tweaked for any audience or particular educational standards/goals. Anne Clements, Blessed Be Photography
Anne has lived in Livonia for 34 years. While completing her Bachelors degree in 2005 she studied the Reggio Emilia approach where childern focus on different media to explore the world. Her documentation of this study, done in photos and text, is displayed at Empire College in Rochester. Anne facilitates a Reggio inspired art studio at Annie's Ark childcare center. She exposes children to drawing from life, clay sculpture, painting and collage representation.
She has always had a camera in her hands documenting family gatherings and children playing. She recently started using a digital instead of a 35 mil on her fourth trip to Ireland. Virginia Martin
A great passion for Nature and its preservation manifests itself in the creation of my art. In my landscape paintings I frequently utilize intense colors and depict super-realistic scenes. I rarely represent the human figure because of its historically negative impact on Nature. My intense love of the music and art of the Classical and Romantic eras, and their relation to the Sublime, is the other source for my creative inspiration and drive. Currently I am expanding my Master of Fine Arts Thesis, "Landscapes of Beethoven's Signature." This continued work includes landscape paintings, some of which incorporate calligraphy from Beethoven's manuscripts, as well as sculptures (made of found objects) relating to various aspects of the composer's life.

I am a native Upstate New Yorker, residing in Geneseo. I grew up in Pittsford, graduated from Pittsford Mendon High School and went to work full time at my father's graphic art design and printing company, Carey Associates/Rochester House of Printing in Rochester.
I was involved in all aspects of the business doing everything from pre-press work, pressman, art department board artist and darkroom supervisor before switching careers to law enforcement at the Livingston County Sheriff's Office in 1978.
I have continued to stay involved with art, doing calligraphy and illustration, as well as photography, and several years ago became interested in the digital technology available to take photographs and edit them.
While editing can create interesting effects, turning scenes into an impressionistic or watercolor style print, sometimes you cannot improve upon natural lighting and a pure photograph. I include both in my portfolio, and enjoy combining my love of nature and sports as well as the local scenery and events into graphic images.
Besides my website, photographs are on view at Villa on the Green Restaurant at Livingston Country Club. I also show at several festivals throughout the year, the Geneseo Summer Festival, The Avon Corn Festival as well as the Geneseo Hunt Races.

Ruth Vaughan, artist and papermaker, has been working in fine art handmade paper since receiving a BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1982. Her work has been shown internationally and can be found in many private and corporate collections including those of IBM, AT&T, and the University of Rochester. A full time producing artist, Ruth established "Springwater Paperworks" studio in Hemlock, New York, and is represented by Esmay Fine Art in Rochester. As an educator working with both children and adults, she has given lectures, demonstrations, and workshops in papermaking since 1990. Just before the turn of the century, painting came knocking on my door.
I had been an artist as a child but put it aside as adulthood called me to a career. I was driving to work one morning when I suddenly "saw" the landscape for the first time in years. From that moment, I wanted to paint what I was seeing from roads I traveled every day.
I guess if I had a sense of purpose it is to remind others to "look" as they
go through this incredible painting called the Genesee Valley.
For me, the process of painting is more about letting it happen than making it happen. Experience and technique are essential to the process but without a sort of divine inspiration, my work lacks passion.
It is satisfying to hear someone ask or say "Oh, isn't this such-and-such a place? Or, "I love this tree; I pass it every day." It is then that I know a painting has captured something special.
Painting is an unbelievable opportunity to let go, take risks, and watch as incredible things happen at the tip of a brush.
