 First Friday First Friday Gallery Night in Rochester
Many Rochester galleries participate in this once a month event, every first Friday, 6-9pm. Transportation is available from SUNY Geneseo to the University of Rochester and near some of the East Avenue galleries. Once on East Avenue, there is free shuttle service between the galleries.  2nd Saturdays Genesee Valley Fiber Arts Guild
GVFAG offers a forum for exchange of information and inspiration among its members, to educate, develop, and promote the fiber arts. Members have interest in a variety of fiber arts, including knitting, crochet, quilting, beading, weaving, tatting, sewing, making handmade books to name a few. Skill levels vary from amateur to experienced, and members willingly share their expertise and encouragement.  Places to Visit Genesee Valley Greenway
The Greenway follows the abandoned path of the Genesee Valley Canal and the Pennsylvania Railroad. It is approximately 12' wide, generally unpaved and not smooth, primarily packed dirt with sections of cinders or grass. Open for walking, jogging, biking, bird watching, horseback riding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling (with some limitations in certain restricted areas). A celebration of Irish music, song and dance, the show focuses on the evolution of Irish dance and its similarities with, and influences on, other cultures. The phenomenon of Riverdance draws on Irish traditions and combines the richness of the music with the magic and sensuality of the dance. Riverdance was originally conceived as a spectacular seven-minute intermission entertainment for the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest televised throughout Europe to an audience of over 300 million viewers. Dansville's historic Main Street will come alive with entertainment that is fun for the whole family. This extravaganza will highlight regional artsists, painters, potters, sculptors, photographers, beaders, paper creationists, fiber artists, basketmakers, woodcrafters, strolling musicians and more who will be found on the sidewalks and inside businesses. A variety of multi-talented musicians will be showcased on Ossian St. (corner of Main), including many styles of music including everything from Folk, Jazz, Blues, Pop Bands, vocalists, dancers, Mountain Dulcimers, guitarists, banjo pickers and much more with the evening concluding with a street dance. The Library lawn will host fun for kids, with arts and crafts, music, drama, improvisation, story telling and much more. Free/open to the public.  Through 1/2 Medieval Glass for Popes, Princes, and Peasants 9am-5pm Sunday-Saturday. Location: Corning Museum of Glass, One Museum Way, Corning .
This is the first exhibition in the United States devoted to glass made for the daily use of peasants, princes, and popes in the Middle Ages. During this period, Europe was transformed, as was the world of glassmaking. After the fall of Rome, all but the simplest techniques were forgotten. Over the centuries, the quality and quantity of glassware increased. In the later Middle Ages, local products were joined by luxurious glasses imported from the Islamic world, and by the 15th century the stage was set for the golden age of Venetian glassmaking. In this exhibit, Harcuba pared down and simplified his presentation to three objects, which he believes reveal the soul of his work: portraits of Czech playwright, poet and political dissident Vaclav Havel; painter and sculptor Vladimir Kopecky; and the Bohemian engraver Domink Biemann.
