Community Arts Grants

GVCA receives money from the New York State Council on the Arts to fund local arts and cultural programs in the county. Any non-profit organization or branch of local government is eligible to apply for up to three projects and may request a total of $5,000. Some projects in recent years include: a children’s literary festival, music concerts at village parks and churches, painting workshops, library programs, printing a historical photo negative collection, and production assistance for local theatre groups and a community steel drum band. For 2008, grants totalling $29,250 were awarded to 21 groups for 24 projects.

The application is short and simple to write and we are here to help. Applications are available in July and are due the first Monday in October.

Before applying, applicants must consult with GVCA’s Program Coordinator. Attendance at GVCA’s grant writing seminar or an individual meeting will be required. First-time applicants are encouraged to contact the Program Coordinator as early as possible. Retain a copy of your grant application for your files.

Mandatory Information Seminars will be posted here when scheduled.
