Individual Artists Grant
Three grants of $2,000 each were available to artists interested in creating new work within a community context in 2006. These competitive grants are based on the artistic merit of work samples, a strong interface between the community and the creative process, and a clearly defined project. They were created by the New York State Council on the Arts to further meet the needs of artists in our state.

Community Arts Grant
GVCA receives money from the New York State Council on the Arts to fund local arts and cultural programs in the county. In 2006, grants totaling $27,000 were awarded to 22 groups for 23 projects. Any non-profit group or branch of local government is eligible to apply for up to three projects and may request a total of $5,000. Some projects in recent years include: a children’s literary festival, music concerts at village parks and churches, painting workshops, library programs, printing a historical photo negative collection, and production assistance for local theatre groups and a community steel drum band.
The application is short and simple to write and we are here to help. Applications are available in July and are due the first Monday in October.

GVCA Membership Form
As a member of GVCA, you will be mailed our bi-monthly newsletter/calendar, ArtSphere. Members also are invited each year to the Artful Holidays Members-Only Pre-Sale and Reception, our Annual Dinner in the fall, and to participate in our annual Members' Art Exhibit. But, most of all, memberships play a vital role in supporting arts and culture in Livingston County through Grants for Young Artists, the annual Livingston County High School Art Exhibit at SUNY Geneseo, workshops, artists' residencies in area schools, concerts, exhibits, an artist studio tour, the Folk Art Music Program, the Community Arts Grant program, and the information and help we offer organizations and individuals on a daily basis. We have also been able to provide services to many individual artists: to those performers, teachers, or art specialists, as well as to arts and cultural organizations, through our Artist Registry.

Artful Holidays application
Artful Holidays is a boutique-style juried fine arts and crafts show and sale. The 2006 show will take place November 9, 10 and 11 at The Campus House, 17 Main Street (Route 39) in Geneseo (14454).
Exhibitors participate by invitation of the Artful Holidays Committee. The committee looks for high quality arts and crafts produced by artists from Livingston County and the surrounding region. The committee aims to exhibit a variety of media and styles without putting artists in competition with one another. Items for exhibit and sale are not limited to visual art and crafts; Artful Holidays may also feature books, recordings and videos by local artists, and artisan food products. The committee limits the number of exhibitors to 40.
